Thousands of residents gathered for Stevenage’s free annual fireworks display, which formed part of the town’s 80th anniversary celebrations. The event brought together people of all ages for an evening of entertainment and fireworks. Stevenage Borough Council thanked those who attended, sponsor Morgan Sindall and the teams involved in organising the display. Council licensing staff and Trading Standards officers carried out checks during the event to confirm that traders were operating legitimately, goods were safe and food vendors had the required documentation. Two traders were asked to leave after checks found they did not have the correct documentation. The council said every product inspected by Trading Standards met the required safety standards. The council said a free, professionally organised display offers an alternative to separate private events, helping to reduce risks and potential anti-social behaviour linked to fireworks being set off independently. Residents can check the council’s Events Page for updates about forthcoming activities and the town’s anniversary celebrations. Stevenage Borough Council.
